in Japan

Welcome

The Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme -JET for short-  is an initiative sponsored by the government of Japan that invites college graduates from around the world to live and work in Japan.

The objectives of the Programme are being achieved by offering JET Programme participants the opportunity to serve in local authorities as well as public and private elementary, junior high, and senior high schools in Japan.

Founded in 1987, the JET Programme has grown into one of the largest and most successful international exchange initiatives of its kind.  More than 80, 000 people from 82 countries have participated in the JET Programme through its years.

As the JET Programme has achieved an excellent reputation since its foundation, it is of great importance that this reputation be maintained. Participants are invited to Japan as representatives of their countries. As such, they are expected to be responsible in all their activities, especially those concerning the promotion of mutual understanding between nations.
